Hi, my name is Rong, and welcome to my site! I am a New York-based interdisciplinary scholar. I hold a BFA in Fashion Design from Parsons School of Design. And I am currently pursuing an MA in Experimental Humanities & Social Engagement (XE) at New York University.
In my fashion practice, most of my designs tend to have a reference to streetwear, focusing on function and creative construction. I like to create designs that have a sense of humor, either by bending the rule of garment construction (e.g. puffer shorts that have two sets of fly fronts) or using clothes/graphics as a mode to express my light-hearted take on contemporary topics (e.g. graphic tees for my thesis collection).
My current graduate research focuses on the intersection of art, technology, literature, and ideology. I am especially interested in the implication of technology on society/humanities and how we perceive these implications through art, science fiction, and speculative fiction. "Individualism and Collectivism in the Search for a New Home" and "Dimensionality in Flatland" are two of my short essays that embody my research interests. "To Reason and To Feel" is an example of the experimental writings that I am currently working on. I am in the process of creating a scholarly site aside from this portfolio site. So please check back and stay tuned!
In the meantime, feel free to browse through my current site. Please let me know if you have any thoughts or comments on my work. I would love to hear them!
